Producing the Goods
Andrew Loftus set up Weeton’s in Harrogate in the autumn of 2005 to give an outlet to small local producers, to provide local and seasonal food from ‘responsible family farms", and ‘to raise the profile of British food". If the produce is sold in supermarkets, he won’t sell it. "The produce of 35 Yorkshire farms fills half the shop, the rest is 80% British plus "the best the rest of the world has to offer"".(Tessa Boase).
You can sit and have coffee, cakes, read the papers or just gaze around the shop. Weeton’s also has its own label eg, Weeton’s ‘lime dressing with black pepper and lavender’.
