Cornish Clotted Cream By Post

Why send a postcard home when you can send some clotted cream? This is a popular souvenir from Devon and Cornwall (Cornish Clotted Cream has Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status). Clotting is a means of preserving the cream, and involves it being warmed for a long time over a moderate heat, resulting in a distinctive crust. The Rodda family in Redruth have been producing clotted cream since 1890 and now are one of Cornwall's biggest brands - they offer mail order cream (which you can also order on-line if you get a taste for it). They use Cornish milk and have Soil Association organic accreditation. Jersey Cow Farm Shop in Bude (a member of Cornwall County Council's 'Made in Cornwall' Approved Origin scheme) will send out a whole cream tea, 2 scones, a saffron bun, 113g clotted cream, jam and a napkin.
